Caniglia at the FACE CONVENTION (Figurative Art Convention & Expo)

I would like to thank everyone who came out to the opening at Gallery 1516 this weekend. The exhibition was packed. It was nice to meet up with old friends, colleagues as well as new collectors. It was a nice change to see an exhibition of this size in Omaha. The exhibition is up until December 29th. If you missed the opening or your traveling through the Omaha area, please take time out to see the exhibition.

This week, I am heading to the FACE CONVENTION (Figurative Art Convention & Expo) in Miami, Florida. I will be attending with my niece Fina Mooney who will be a guest speaker at the opening ceremony with Max Ginsburg, Eric Rhoads, and Peter Trippi. This is a very well deserved honor. Fina at the age of 13 is a world class painter showing the discipline, commitment, and strength of our future figurative storytellers. Her work is both breathtaking and masterful.

I will be at the TRAC sessions on the DaVinci Initiative since this part of the method that I teach my current students as well as the life drawing sessions. This conference is a full immersion into the world of figurative painting with world-class painters. Looking forward to catching up with a lot of my fellow painters and colleagues this week.

Once again thank you for your support of my work and I hope to see some of you in Miami.

Caniglia at Paul Booth Gallery for 13th Hour Exhibition

I would like to thank Paul Booth for putting on another incredible 13th Hour exhibition. It was great to catch up with so many past friends and colleagues. I am humbled to have my paintings side by side with so many globally-renowned painters. Paul’s vision for this show gives the viewer a glimpse of the human condition on a new level. The collection of pieces explore beauty, melancholy, the grotesque and the unknown. The sacred and the profane. The uncertainty of our existence as we seek to understand the impermanence of life on this planet. If you are in NYC don’t miss the opportunity to see this rare one of kind exhibition at Paul Booth - Last Rites Gallery.

Caniglia exhibition at Last Rites Gallery

I will be part of the upcoming 13th Hour exhibition at Last Rites Gallery in NYC. The opening reception will be Saturday October 28th at 7pm. I will be attending the event so please come out and say hi.

Last Rites has become a premiere gallery for contemporary surrealism and a haven for artists who are not afraid of exploring and dissecting every aspect of the human condition to investigate the invisible, the unintelligible and the inexplicable with a focus on the most recondite twists and turns of reality.

The gallery strives to display a showcase of thought-provoking art imbued with references to the dreamlike landscapes and ambiguous feelings originated from an intimate, philosophical contemplation of the self. The gallery program is mainly focused on figurative paintings and sculptures featured by an unconventional interpretation of the human existence that seems to escape any definition of what is real, unreal or unknown.

Last Rites Gallery is located at 325 W 38th Street, between 8th and 9th Avenues, New York, NY.
Gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday, 1pm to 9pm
For more information, please email info@lastritesgallery.com or call: 212.560.0666.

Thank You,
Caniglia

Caniglia Creates Artwork for Anne Rice and William Peter Blatty

Two new limited edition books have just been released with paintings created by Caniglia. His oil painting “The night caws and the nightmare sings" was created for Anne Rice's “Interview with a Vampire” which was released for her limited anniversary edition. The new special release by Cemetery Dance SOLD OUT in one day!

The London based publisher ‘The Folio Society’ just announced the new limited edition release of “The Exorcist” by William Peter Blatty with all new artwork by Jeremy Caniglia. Few novels have shocked the world like The Exorcist. Inspired by the real-life exorcism of a child in the 1940s, William Peter Blatty's gripping tale of a young girl thought possessed, and the small group of determined individuals who race against time to save her, is as iconic as it is horrifying. Yet beneath the notoriety of the novel, and the gruesome scenes stamped into the public consciousness by William Friedkin's 1973 film adaptation, lies a satisfyingly complex exploration of Catholic notions of suffering, guilt and redemption. With illustrations from acclaimed artist Jeremy Caniglia, this Folio edition is a fitting tribute to an unforgettable work of psychological horror.

William Peter Blatty died on January 17, 2017 and in this special edition Blatty includes all the text, amendments and additions that he considered lacking in his original, including a new character now thought by the author to be 'the most hauntingly chilling in the book'.

Here is a link if you would like more information on this special edition that Caniglia created with Blatty.

Caniglia Drawing at The Nerdrum School

Every evening students at The Nerdrum School draw and paint with the master Odd Nerdrum. Drawing from life is essential and using the Apelles Palette is part of the tradition of painters from the Greeks to the present. Here are a few pictures taken by Bork Nerdrum showing Caniglia and other students during the life drawing sessions.
