Tomorrow, May 25, is my opening at Salmagundi in New York
City. The reception is from 7-9pm and the exhibition will be up until mid June.
I am part of two exhibitions that are currently on display.
The first exhibition is called Noble Noctures. Nocturnes in
the visual arts are paintings that depict scenes at night or twilight. The term
was coined by the artist Whistler and has a strong association with Tonalism,
which is a vibrant tradition at Salmagundi. My painting “Song of the Night”
which I painted in the plein air – outdoor tradition will be on display.
The Second exhibition is Urban Romance. These are paintings
that are in the realm of the Romantic movement in art and is associated with
drawing on strong emotion as the source of inspiration. Dramatic subjects
inspired awe, horror and sublimity. This exhibition feature work that depicts
urban scenes and subjects through the lens of the Romantic aesthetic. My
painting from my Tanks for Nothing-Series called “A breath to hold under a
concrete canopy” will be on display.
If you are in NYC, please stop by for the opening and
reception. Salmagundi is located at Forty-Seven Fifth Avenue at Twelfth Street
